Q. What is a Prophetic Action?

A prophetic action is a symbolic action, sometimes involving physical activity, prayer, proclamation etc. undertaken in response to revelation from God. Usually a prophetic action represents some situation God is wanting to draw attention to or bring change to. For a Scriptural reference check out Ezekiel 4, or for a New Testament example check out Acts 21:10-11.

Q. How can a Prophetic Action change anything?

Firstly, a prophetic action is a symbol or metaphor that can have a powerful impact on the hearts and minds of those who see, hear or experience it, even if they are not consciously aware of the effect it may be having on them. 

Secondly, there is a correspondence that we don't fully understand between events in the natural realm and events in the spiritual or heavenly realms. Actions we undertake on earth can facilitate or prevent events in the heavens taking place, and events in the heavenly realms can have a very real effect here on earth. Q. Are Prophetic Actions all about judgement and bad stuff?

Absolutely not! Under the New Covenant, because of Jesus victory over death and sin, judgement has been postponed to a single day at the very end of time (which is a relief!). Prophecy under the New Covenant is all about God revealing and calling people, cities and nations back to His plan and purpose for them - their identity and destiny, which is always good.

Prophetic action calls people to something higher and better, and brings about changes in the spiritual atmosphere that can facilitate that happening.
